Misako Homma is an expert craftswoman who masters both the modelling and the wheel, a sublime ceramic artist who applies to her creations the aesthetics and functionality of her native Japan, a formidable Kendo player and a refined master of the tea ceremony, specialised in traditional Japanese painting, Misako currently teaches ceramics and raku in her workshop in Barcelona.
PROGRAMME:
1st session / 4 hours:
In this first session Misako will introduce us to the theory of glazes explaining the properties and use of each material that compose them. Then, we will start to prepare the formulas of our glazes for their application on some bisqued samples of different types of clay. Misako will guide us through each step. Once finished, we will fire the samples so that on the last day we can have our own palette of low temperature glazes.
2nd session / 3 hours
During this second session we will work with Misako around the table. She will introduce us to the tradition of the chawan, the main object of the Japanese tea ceremony. Then, we will learn by different modelling techniques to create our own bowls, always following the guidelines of the Asian aesthetics.
3rd session / 3 hours :
During this last session, Misako will teach us how to polish the pieces and then decorate them with textures and colours. At the end of the class, we will analyse the ready samples of glazes that will serve as a base to experiment and expand our palette.

Misako Homma es una experta artesana que domina tanto el modelado como el torno con suma maestría, una sublime artista ceramista que aplica a sus creaciones la estética y la funcionalidad de su Japón natal, es una formidable jugadora de Kendo y una refinada maestra de la ceremonia del té, especializada en pintura tradicional japonesa, actualmente Misako enseña cerámica y raku en su taller de Barcelona.
PROGRAMA:
1ª sesión / 4 horas:
En esta primera sesión Misako nos introducirá en la teoría de los esmaltes explicando las propiedades y el uso de cada material que los componen. A continuación, empezaremos a preparar las formulas de nuestros esmaltes para su aplicación sobre unas muestras de bizcocho de diferentes barros. Misako nos guiará en cada paso. Una vez terminado, pasaremos a cocer las muestras para que el ultimo día de workshop podamos tener nuestra propia paleta de esmaltes de baja temperatura.
2ª sesión / 3 horas
Durante esta segunda sesión trabajaremos con Misako alrededor de la mesa. Nos introducirá en la tradición del chawan, objeto protagonista de la ceremonia japonesa del té. A continuación, aprenderemos mediante diferentes técnicas de modelado a crear nuestros propios boles, siempre siguiendo las directrices de la estética asiática.
3ª sesión / 3 horas :
Durante esta última sesión, Misako nos enseñará a pulir las piezas para a continuación decorarlas mediante texturas y colores. Al final de la clase se analizarán las muestras de esmaltes listas que de ahora en adelante nos servirán como base para poder experimentar y ampliar nuestra paleta.
