The Jetsons

Sculptures for flowers.

Capsule Collection inspired by early 60’s cartoon sitcom THE JETSONS ( Irv Spector’s drawing board ).

The Jetsons are a family residing in Orbit City. The city’s architecture is rendered in the Googie style and all homes and businesses are raised high above the ground on adjustable columns.

While the Flintstones lived in a world which was a comical version of the Stone Age, with machines powered by birds and dinosaurs, the Jetsons live in a comical version of a century in the future, with elaborate robotic contraptions, aliens, holograms, and whimsical inventions.

It’s the 1950s: America is optimistic and anything seems possible. The austerity of the depression has lifted and a new world of air-conditioning, fast cars and space travel has replaced it. Technology was erasing seasons, time and distance, and Googie Architecture was a response to this new world.

Googie buildings featured upswept roofs, curves, geometric shapes and generous use of glass, steel and neon. Designs symbolic of motion, such as boomerangs, flying saucers, and atoms, represented American society’s fascination with Space Age themes and emphasis on futuristic designs.

Googie was The Jetsons in real life.
